The Wonderful Women Coming to SubCat

This Sunday marks the third Sunday of June, so you know what that means!  It’s time for another Sub Rosa Session!  Located directly inside one of the studio’s here at SubCat, audience members  watch a live show with local favorites and some of the best-kept secrets in the music world, and then get to take home a CD of the performance  they just watched!  You will definitely want to be here this Sunday to see Allie Fox & The Ivory Tower and Jess Novak Band show their stuff!

Allie Fox is a singer-songwriter from Michigan who has been playing the guitar since she was nine years old.  She began to work in the music industry at age eighteen when she applied for a job at Music Today in Virginia, where she got to meet musicians such as Madonna and Dave Matthews.  For personal reasons, she shortly returned to Michigan to work at Magnolia Records and Entertainment.  With them, she was able to tour with Larry McCray and The Allman Brothers.  She was  working with McCray on his “Live on 75” album and was booking tour dates and managing contracts for him.

In her own music, Allie hopes to “invoke hope and peace as a solution to everyday issues.”  She is influenced by The Beatles, Elton John, Neil Young, and many more.

Check out this video of her performing “When The Night Comes” at White’s Bar in Saginaw, MI!

With strong roots in blues, rock, and soul music, Jess Novak Band is known for their passion, energy, and engaging songwriting.  Central New York native Jess Novak released her solo debut album, Bad Habit, in December of 2013.  Since then, Novak has played at prestigious venues such as The Cutting Room (NYC) and The Saint (Asbury Park).  She also opened the 23rd Annual Chenango Blues Festival for headliner Ronnie Earl and has shared stages with groups including Ghost Town Blues Band.  Projects that Jess has played with include RESPECT: CNY, BeatleCuse, and Women in Music.

Here’s a video of her performing an original, “With Me Or Not,” as this year’s Taste of Syracuse!

After listening to these amazing ladies, you’re absolutely going to want to add Sub Rosa Sessions to your calendar this Sunday!  Find the $20 that I know you have stuck in your couch cushion or under your car seat and email amanda@subcat.net for tickets!
